2021 Gift Giving Guide
There is much truth in the saying, “it’s better to give than receive”. Watching someone unwrap a gift that I have put much thought and effort into, brings me such feelings of joy and satisfaction. Satisfaction in that I achieved what I set out to do, give a gift that the recipient will be thrilled to get. A gift that is the perfect fit for their lifestyle and personality. A gift that will be useful and enjoyed. I do put great effort into each and almost every gift I give (I will admit there have been times when gifts were chosen in haste). I really enjoy the thrill of the chase, that being racking my brain and scouring the stores and the internet for what I believe to be the perfect gift. The key to being a good gift giver is knowing and understanding the personalities and lifestyles of the people on your gift list. In other words, the more information you have about someone, the easier it is to come up with the ideal gift for them. With this in mind, I have compiled a list of 5 fantastic kitchen themed gift ideas that will fit most budgets. If you have someone on your list that would appreciate a kitchen themed gift, this list is for you! Also, don't forget to treat yourself every now and then. All five ideas are thoughtful, budget friendly and could be very useful. I will mention that I AM NOT getting a single penny for referring any of the items listed and linked here. I simply want to provide you with the best ideas and information I have to make your gift giving easier. Happy Gift Giving Friends!
1. Spices
An integral part of a well stocked kitchen most definitely includes spices. There was a time when people sailed all over the world to get their hands on various spices. It’s not a wonder to me why they risked their safety to acquire the spices. Spices make the dish. Think of it this way, tomato sauce without garlic, basil or oregano, would be just tomatoes. Curry rice and veggies without the curry would be only rice and veggies and chili without chili powder would not taste like chili at all. Spices make the dish and so every well stocked kitchen needs a good supply of them. Anyone who enjoys cooking or is just discovering the joys of cooking would appreciate a collection of good spices. Here are my top 3 picks:
Simply Organic Starter Spice Gift Set
Kamenstein Bamboo Inspirations Spice Rack with Leaf Labels, 16-Cube
McCormick Gourmet Three Tier Wood 24 Piece Organic Spice Rack Organizer with Spices Included
2. Food Delivery Services
I think two of the biggest chores people have on their never ending To Do List are grocery shopping and getting healthy meals on the table. Both take time, effort and money, three of the most valuable resources in existence. There are many times when our days are jam packed and getting a healthy meal to the table is nearly impossible, so we opt for something quick and convenient even though it might not be very healthy. I completely understand the constraints involved in trying to maintain a healthy diet. It can get quite discouraging at times. Thankfully, there are solutions that can work and make great gifts. Gifting a meal delivery service or a grocery delivery service would be very much appreciated and one of the most useful gifts you could give. Here are my top 3 picks:
3. Ceramic Cookware
Two things that get me really excited to cook up a storm include fresh veggies from my garden and new cookware. One happens frequently during the growing season and the other, rarely, but It is such a treat to cook with nice equipment. Cooking and creating in the kitchen with new equipment always feels a bit indulgent to me because I tend to use things until they can’t be glued, duct taped or zip tied any more and only then, have met the end of their usable life. I think many of us use kitchen equipment that has seen its better days, so what a great gift new cookware would be. There are also many who are still working on building their well stocked kitchen, just starting out or starting over, so nice pots and/or pans would be a great addition. Here are my top 3 picks:
GreenLife Soft Grip Healthy Ceramic Nonstick Saucepan Set with Lids, 1QT and 2QT
4. Food Storage Containers
Nothing says practical and will get used more than food storage containers. I know it's not the most glamorous or eye popping gift, but I guarantee it will get used! I’m probably dating myself a bit here, but I remember repurposing whipped topping and margarine containers to use as food storage containers. I love repurposing and I still do use containers over again if possible, but they don’t last as long as containers specifically designed to store and reheat food. They also don’t have the same durability and they probably should not be used to reheat your leftover food in the microwave. A few years ago I bought myself a nice set of food storage containers and I have never regretted it. They get used daily, have held up really well, reheat my food safely and go through the dishwasher without being compromised. Here are my top 3 picks:
5. For the Kids
Last but certainly not least, kitchen themed gifts for kids. I was always thrilled to be a part of kitchen happenings when I was a kid. It was such a thrill to help prepare, cook and bake food for our family. I have carried that thrill into the lives of my children and enjoy time in the kitchen with them any chance I get. Getting kids excited to be a part of your kitchen happenings is key to instilling the importance of a healthy diet and what it involves. One of my "Mom Goals" is that my kids leave the nest knowing how to cook themselves healthy meals. A great way to kick start or continue to nurture their interest in prepping, cooking and baking food, is to get them a set of tools designed just for kids. Here are my top 3 picks:
